The Mission of RORES is “ TO FOSTER A PROCESS OF ONGOING CHANGE IN FAVOUR OF RURAL POOR IN A WAY IN WHICH THIS PROCESS CAN BE SUSTAINED BY THEM THROUGH THEIR ORGANISED STRENGTH AND IN HARMONY WITH NATURE AND WITH BETTER SOCIAL VALUES.”

RORES believes that sustainable development can only take place in the context of an organized group or society. For people in “object poverty” getting organized does not have much relevance unless their organized strength works in relating to their socio-economic living conditions. Poverty being the cause and effect of so many factors consentizing the poor to the conditions and situations where they are living in and help them to get organized is necessary for their development. The process of activities that have a direct bearing on their socio-economic living conditions can alone get them organized. Here the processes of activities are the basis for them to get organized.

About US

Having done my master degree in social work, I worked with various reputed NGO’s over a period of 8 years and ultimately initiated RORES NGO during 1987-88. Like many other NGO’s, I implemented various socio-economic programs to the rural poor with donor and government supported programs.

In my long journey of 30 years of developmental activity experience, I have realized that many of our developmental interventions are not able to create better social values in the society, just because these interventions are not able to address the basic problem of corruption in the implementation of various developmental programs.

Working with piece meal approach towards addressing corruption is like working along with the problem and not with the solution to a larger extant. Unless we evolve a holistic approach with popular governance mechanism, no amount of crime detection can solve the problem.

The basic problem for unrest in many democratic countries in the world is because of corruptive governance. Corruptive governance can be addressed only through the involvement of common masses in the governance. No amount of American aid to Pakistan or Afghanistan can improve the governance in these countries unless reach out accountabilities are ensured to the people.

Democracy does not end by people’s consent seal alone, it should be a continuous living ongoing process with positive energies. It needs to be action oriented and not reaction oriented. The popular saying of “YATHA PRAJA THATHA RAJA” (The quality of leadership is the reflection of the quality of common masses) indicates the necessity of involvement of common masses in the governance.

With this understanding we have initiated a taluk level bi-monthly newsletter with around 4000-subscriber base covering all the 350 villages within an year’s span. All allocations through various governmental departments, with the methodologies of implementation are published in this news letter. Further, the details like where, what, when and whom the benefits have reached out, with relevant financial details are provided for the people to react and respond. Along with the program details we also publish educative articles on a timely basis on issues like health, agriculture, animal husbandry etc.,

With in one-year’s intervention we could visibly see definite positive impact on all the concerned departments and even on local political cadre.
Our next aim is to create separate taluk editions in Kolar district and impress upon the political leadership and bureaucracy for adoption of this popular governance mechanism.

During my 30 years career, I have associated myself with MYRADA, IRRM, GPC, NOVIB, IC/SDC, ICEF, HIDA along with CORD-AID and also with many government agencies. Among all, my humble gratitude to CORD-AID for giving me meaningful leverages to undertake various innovative initiatives like ARIVU, SPIRULINA and COMMUNITY HORTICULTURE. I am thankful to Ms.Harmaredmaker in particular for providing initial support to ARIVU newsletter, because it is my cherished dream since 20 years, which has become a reality at CHINTHAMANI taluk with definite impact.

I am fortunate to have a committed cadre of staff who are associated with me since 10-15 years. I am grateful to my wife for her tolerance and contribution in leading me towards evolving path breaking mechanisms towards popular governance.
